Two dimensional diagrams and technical drawings are useful in the construction process, but during the design and conceptual stages of a new home, a three dimensional scale model is indespensible. There is no substitute for a physical scale model that communicates the vision of the architect better than a model. Such a model was hand crafted by Matthew Moger.
The model illustrated above was an indespensible component for the design charette on August 7th, 2009. All of the principals in the design team used this model as a key reference facilitating critical decisions in the early phases of this project. Without such a model, we would have spent extra time and resources to accomplish our goals. Matthew used the detailed elevations provided by the civil engineers and spent untold hours fabricating this model of cork, wood and other materials to create this highly accurate scale model.
